Absolute rotary encoders are distance or angle encoders which provide exact measurements for recording movement distances, speeds or acceleration without initial references. Unlike incremental encoders, absolute encoders measure position information using a digital number field without first determining a reference value. The precise positioning of the absolute rotary encoder is reliably evaluated via the downstream sequential electronics unit. Besides the current position value, additional data such as temperature information can also be transmitted. Depending on the particular requirements we offer absolute rotary encoders with a solid shaft, hollow shaft or stub shaft in standard or special models.
Absolute multi-turn encoders allow a measurement range of more than 360 degrees by additional evaluation of the number of rotations. Initial calibration of the reference values is not necessary due to the correlation of a coded value of the position of the angle with each revolution. The output signal is determined by the downstream sequential electronics unit of the multi-turn encoder through the number of revolutions and the position of the shaft within one revolution. In order to meet individual needs, we produce multi-turn encoders with a hollow shaft or solid shaft in standard or special versions.
